IPTO

Short for Information Processing Technology Office, IPTO is now an agency of the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) that was established in 1962 after JCR Licklider became the first Director and responsible for heading the effort. Today, IPTO creates new generations of computational and information systems that possess capabilities far beyond those of current systems.
