Jailbreaking

A method and term first introduced on July 10, 2007 that enables an Apple iPhone and iPod Touch user to run unauthorized code on their devices. When the device is jailbroken it allows the user to run applications not supported or allowed by Apple and often is a method of obtaining pirated apps.
