Mnemonic

A mnemonic is a visual and/or auditory aid that helps an individual remember something. In computers, there are several different types of mnemonics; for example, many menu and menu options have an underlined character that represents a key that can be pressed to access that menu or option, such as the "File", where the mnemonic is "F". This enables the user to know to press ALT + F or Command + F to access the file menu using their keyboard. In the below illustration, you can see an example of a mnemonic.
