Moderator

With an online discussion (e.g., chat room or message board), a moderator is responsible for ensuring that all rules are followed. The moderator has the capability of fixing errors, removing obscene content, or kicking/removing a user who is breaking the rules. However, do not have complete control of the server or channel settings.

Can I be a mod?

It's up to the admin or operator to decide who has moderator privileges. Typically, this person will not give someone moderator privileges until that person has proven to be someone helpful and who could assist in maintaining the channel or board. Others may only rely on bots to be the moderator because they can always be on and monitoring all channels.

What does it mean when something is moderated?

Anything labeled as moderated (e.g., moderated chat or moderated forum) means that there's someone or something (e.g., bots) that's watching for bad users. If someone breaks the rules the moderator may warn them, kick them, or ban them.
