Modify may refer to any of the following:
1. Modify can refer to changing user account permissions for file and folder access, thus giving or taking away the ability of a user to view and make changes to files or folders. Modifying permissions can only be done by the administrator for a computer (or administrator account) or the owner of a file or folder.
2. Modify can also refer to making changes to settings in the Windows environment or a software application. Settings can be modified to improve the view of the Windows desktop or menu structure, or it can change what toolbar options are available in various programs. Modifying a programs settings can make using a computer more user-friendly and enjoyable.
