Modify

  1. In computer terms, modify can refer to the changing of user account permissions and security for file and folder access, giving or taking away the ability of a user to view and make changes to files or folders. Modifying permissions can only be done by the Administrator for a computer (or Administrator-level user account) or the owner of a file or folder.
  2. Modify can also refer to making changes to settings in the Windows environment or a software application. Settings can be modified to improve the view of the Windows Desktop or menu structure, or it can change what toolbar options are available in various programs. Modifying a programs settings can make using a computer more user friendly and enjoyable.
