One laptop per child

Short for one laptop per child, OLPC is an organization founded on January 28, 2005, by Nicholas Negroponte. The organization's goal is to provide children around the world with a laptop computer for $100. The first working OLPC prototype was introduced to the public on November 16, 2005, at WSIS (World Summit on the Information Society) and began being developed and shipped in November 2007.
