Short for Portable Data File, PDF is a file format developed by Adobe that enables users to capture the overall appearance of a document and have it viewed and printed exactly the same on any computer. PDF files are frequently used in legal documents such as tax papers, bank statements, and other forms that require the user to fill in data.
