PII may refer to any of the following:

1. Short for personally identifiable information, PII describes any information that identifies you or your location. Personal information may include your name, phone number, address, credit card information, social security number, license plate, likes, etc. Companies can use PII to help track users as they browse the Internet and use online services. Some companies may even use data mining to help collect and store PII for advertisement and other business needs. An attacker may use or collect personal information for identity theft.

Tip

PII may also be called data smog or data trail.

2. PII is another method of saying P2 or Pentium 2.
