| A term used to describe a
type of leveling where one or more player plays a game for hours or
sometimes hundreds of hours only focusing on achieving a higher
level. Today, with the popularity of online games such as
World of Warcraft and the amount of hours
it takes to achieve a higher level, players are paying real-life
money to other people or companies to power level their
characters for them so they don't have to spend so much time in the
game. Some players and game companies look down on power leveling
as it helps reward players who are not really playing the game and
therefore don't really have the in-game-experience and/or only
rewards players who have or want to spend the money this way. Others
look at it as a way to save the player time or may not have the time
to invest into a game and as a way of helping those in poorer
countries (often out-sourced to countries with no jobs or only
low-income jobs).
