| A section of the Microsoft taskbar that enables a user the ability to quickly and easily launch their programs. Introduced with the release of Microsoft Windows 98, this portion of the taskbar is commonly located to the right of the start button and the left of any windows that are currently open. Below is an example of the Windows taskbar with the three Quick Launch icons in-between the Start button and the open programs. 
With the introduction of Windows 7 Microsoft has migrated open programs and
the Quick Launch into the same bar and re-named the feature to
Pin.
