Smart cable

  1. Also known as an intelligent cable, a smart cable is a cable that contains built-in circuitry to detect the type of transmission and be able to convert it to another type of transmission.
  2. Smart cables may also be a type of cable that converts from one standard into another. For example, a cable that allows a SCSI device to work through USB.
