SOA may refer to any of the following:
1. Short for start of authority, SOA is the first resource record in a DNS zone file. This record lets other network devices know that it is the best source of information for DNS (domain name system) data within a domain.
2. Short for service oriented architecture, SOA is a collection of services that communicate with each other.
