Telephone

Rotary and cordless phoneAlso known as a phone, a telephone is a device that converts voice communication into electrical signals that can be transferred to other telephones and heard. Telephones enable people to communicate with other people all over the world and is widely credited as being first invented by Alexander Graham Bell in 1876.

There are three primary types of phones in use today. The traditional corded phone which could be rotary dial like that shown in the picture to the right or have buttons, the cordless or wireless phone also shown in the picture to the right, and the cell phone.
