Telephone
Alternatively
referred to as a phone, a telephone is a device that converts voice communication into electrical signals that can be transferred to other telephones and heard. Telephones enable people to communicate with other people all over the world and is widely credited as being first invented by Alexander Graham Bell in 1876.
There are three basic phones in use today. The classic corded telephone, which could be rotary dial like or have buttons, the cordless or wireless phone, and the cell phone. Today, most users have replaced their landline phones and are opting for cell phones.
Connecting a phone
Standard land line phones are connected to the wall outlet using an RJ-11 connector. If you're connecting a telephone to a computer modem the computer must be connected to a wall outlet that connects into the line in connector and the phone must be connected to the line out connector.
