Tuneup

Updated: 08/02/2020 by Computer Hope

For a computer, a tuneup refers to improving the computer's performance by way of several processes. These processes can include the removal of temp files, uninstalling computer programs, fixing computer errors, and cleaning up the registry.

While the tuneup process can be done manually, we recommend using a program that performs the tuneup process automatically. Windows includes the Disk Cleanup utility and there are also many options to choose from for these programs. Free options include WinUtilities Free, CCleaner, and SlimCleaner. The WinUtilities and CCleaner software are also available to purchase to receive additional features and functionality. These programs offer many options to perform a thorough tuneup on a computer.
