Ultra light computer

Another term for a portable computer that can be transported easily from place to place. An ultra light computer weighs between 2 pounds and 8 pounds and can fit in a briefcase. These computers are powered by either a battery or a transformer pack. Some of these systems use a RAM drive instead of a hard drive or diskette drive.

Almost all laptop computers today fall under this category. This is a term that was often used when laptop computers were first introduced and were 10 pounds or heavier.
