IM Worm Crawls Through JPEG Hole
story.news.yahoo.com -- Security experts have spotted the first attempts to create an Internet worm that propagates using instant messages and exploits a recently disclosed flaw in Microsoft software.


* Security:

New Windows Patch Proves Tricky
story.news.yahoo.com -- The emergence of a new Internet virus targeting a Microsoft Windows security flaw could cause more damage than usual because the company's system for fixing the problem is so complex that many people will not bother to download it, security experts warned.

Viral movies possible with RealPlayer flaw
news.com.com -- A software slipup in RealNetworks' music player means that Windows, Mac and Linux computers could be compromised by a fake movie file, a security company said Friday.

Important Security Update for Firefox Available
mozilla.org -- The Mozilla Foundation releases an important security update for Firefox. All users should upgrade to the latest version of the Firefox Preview Release. A patch is available for current Preview Release users

* With the new month of October, Computer Hope has posted its new monthly Poll - "Which Operating System are you using?" as well as results from last months poll, Quiz - "Which of the below is an input device?" and Tip - "Mozilla Firefox".

- Added several new recovery console commands and updates MS-DOS section.
- Updated and added new questions and answers.
- Updated e-mail script.
- Continued work on new scripts.


Because of all these updates and changes we were unable to release last weeks newsletter and had to delay this newsletter until all changes were made and updated to server.
