Short for Bridge Protocol Data Unit, BPDUs are part of the spanning tree protocol that help describe and identify attributes of a switch port. BPDUs allow for switches to obtain information about each other.

New Bagle Worms Reported

Mobile virus infects Lexus cars
scmagazine.com -- Lexus cars may be vulnerable to viruses that infect them via mobile phones. Landcruiser 100 models LX470 and LS430 have been discovered with infected operating systems that transfer within a range of 15 feet.
MySQL 'Bot' Attacks Windows Systems
eweek.com -- Malicious hackers have launched a zero-day bot attack against default Windows installations of the MySQL database engine, infecting vulnerable systems at the rate of 100 per minute, security experts warned on Thursday.
Trojan horse rides off with game accounts
news.com.com -- Security researchers have warned of a new pest that steals subscriber information for one of the world's most popular online games.
Worm Uses MSN Medium

Gartner: Microsoft's Anti-Piracy Plan Makes Windows PCs More Vulnerable
techweb.com -- Microsoft's announced plans to fight software piracy by requiring Windows users to prove they have a legitimate copy will help the developer but will in the long run create more vulnerable systems that hackers can exploit, a research firm said Friday.
Researchers: We Cracked Car Alarm System
story.news.yahoo.com -- Researchers said Saturday they have found a way to crack the code used in millions of car keys, a development they said could allow thieves to bypass the security systems on newer car models.
Winamp Squashes Critical Security Bug
story.news.yahoo.com -- America Online Inc.'s Nullsoft unit has quietly rolled out a new version of the popular Winamp media player to plug multiple critical flaws that put users at risk of code execution attacks.
US-CERT warns of Cisco product vulnerabilities
infoworld.com -- The United States Computer Emergency Readiness Team (US-CERT) warned that Cisco Systems' Internet Operating System (IOS) contains several vulnerabilities that could allow remote attackers to use specially crafted traffic to cause Cisco routers running the software to restart, creating a denial of service attack.
Apple issues Security Update 2005-001
story.news.yahoo.com -- Apple on Tuesday released Security Update 2005-001, released for Mac OS X (news - web sites) v10.2.8, Mac OS X Server v10.2.8, Mac OS X v10.3.7 and Mac OS X Server v10.3.7. The software is available for download either using the Software Update system preference pane or through the Apple Downloads Web site -- visit the Web page for more details on how to get it.

* Updated all portions of the search script to perform a GET instead of a POST this enables users to copy and paste the URL to their search results if needed. All pages on Computer Hope are still using the POST method. This will be globally updated on our next site-wide update.

- Begin developing first implementation of new mail system.
- Corrected issue with feedback script not properly listing submitted information. While correcting this issue also updated the script.

Google this week introduced Google Video, enabling users to search for keywords in recent TV programs. Definitely worth checking out for anyone interested in new ideas and technology. Although the service does not allow you to watch any movie clips the site does provide you with information about the show as well as screen shots.

Also announced this week, Amazon's Yellow Pages now has over 20 million images of 10 major cities in the United States. This enables users to not only find a location using their yellow page maps but also at the same time look of pictures of building in the area. This is an ambitions project that plans on eventually having pictures of the whole country and is definitely worth checking out.
After last weeks newsletter we received a few comments about Netflix, some users just wanted to mention how much they have enjoyed Netflix and other wanted to let us know that they have also encountered problems with the Netflix service. John mentioned that Netflix's e-mail service is poor and that you would be lucky to receive a e-mail from them and also pointed out that there are similar services such as Blockbusters, which is a similar service but for a cheaper price of only $14.99 a month. Users interested in this service may want to check out the below link.
