UMA ( http://www.computerhope.com/jargon/u/uma.htm ) -
Short for Upper Memory Area, UMA is the area of RAM between 640KB and 1,024KB (1MB) that has been made into usable RAM. In DOS based systems, memory is split into five areas; conventional memory, upper memory, high memory, extended memory, and expanded memory. The UMA consists of upper memory blocks, and users can access this area through a special memory manager, such as EMM386.exe

news.zdnet.com -- The risk of an attack related to a flaw in Microsoft Outlook Express climbed this week, after underground hacking sites began circulating sample code for exploiting it.
Port spike may portend an attack, experts say
news.com.com -- A surge in scanning on a port associated with a Windows flaw patched last week suggests that a mass worm attack may be imminent, experts said.
IE, Firefox Spoofable, Again
news.yahoo.com -- Internet Explorer and Firefox -- even the newest edition that's getting ready for release -- can be spoofed by hackers intent on stealing passwords or other confidential information, a security firm said Tuesday.

UConn Finds Hacking Program in Server
news.yahoo.com -- The University of Connecticut is notifying 72,000 students, staff and faculty as a precaution after officials found a computer-hacking program in a server at the school.
Theft Indicates Hackers' Increasing Power
news.yahoo.com -- The numbers involved in the latest high-stakes cybercrime are astonishing: Burrowing into a payment-processing company's computers, a hacker apparently stole data on 200,000 credit and debit accounts and had access to 40 million.
