Bots ( http://www.computerhope.com/jargon/b/bots.htm ) -
1. Short for robots a bot is a fictitious character, programmed character or a piece of software designed to mimic a real character or player.
2. A bot may also be a software program designed to do a specific task such as gather a listing of web sites with the latest news.
3. Shorthand for Back On Topic, BOT is commonly used in chat rooms and other text message communications.

USB Devices Can Crack Windows
eweek.com -- Vulnerabilities in USB drivers for Windows could allow an attacker to take control of locked workstations using a specially programmed Universal Serial Bus device, according to an executive from SPI Dynamics, which discovered the security hole.
Critical MySQL Flaw Found
news.yahoo.com -- A "highly critical" flaw has been reported in MySQL that can be exploited to cause a DoS (Denial of Service) or to execute arbitrary code on the open-source database, according to security alerts aggregator Secunia Inc.
Unpatched IE flaws reported
news.com.com -- A flaw in Microsoft Internet Explorer's image rendering capabilities may allow attackers to execute code remotely, a security expert has warned.
Firefox add-on Greasemonkey slips up
news.com.com -- The Mozilla Foundation is making available an update for a critical security flaw in Greasemonkey, an extension to the Firefox browser.

Attackers turning to fake online greeting cards
computerworld.com -- The next e-mail greeting card you get may come with a nasty surprise. According to Internet security vendor SurfControl PLC, attackers are increasingly using fake e-mail greeting cards as a way of getting malicious software installed on computers.
Security firm details six unpatched Oracle flaws
computerworld.com -- A German security firm has published details of six security vulnerabilities in Oracle Corp.'s software, three of them high-risk, that it says were not fixed in an Oracle security update earlier this month.
Windows flaw reaches beyond XP
news.zdnet.com -- A security flaw that could let an attacker remotely crash computers running Windows exists in several versions of the operating system, not just Windows XP.
* Privacy:
University of Colorado servers hacked
news.com.com -- The University of Colorado has become the latest educational institution to fall prey to hackers. The school is warning about 43,000 people that they may be at risk of having their identities stolen after two of its servers were attacked, it said Thursday.
USC says database hacked
computerworld.com -- A University of Southern California database containing about 270,000 records of past applicants that included their names and Social Security numbers was hacked last month, officials said yesterday.

Below are a few recent new sites that have either been recently released or we have recently come across that we have enjoyed that related to maps and/or finding directions.

A great new online map system developed by Microsoft that includes several nice new features as well as a slick interface that even supports using the wheel on any scroll mouse to zoom in and out. Some other nice features not found on similar pages is the ability to find your location on the map based off of your IP address, the ability to find local businesses, have the site save your last viewed settings, and more.

A downloadable program from Google that contains all the features you enjoy with Google maps and much more. In addition to having the availability of finding directions and businesses users can save all their locations and searches, get great detailed images, and even view buildings and terrain in 3D.

Google this week introduced Google Moon in celebration of the first moon landing that took place July 20, 1969. Not only does this site map out each of the locations of each of the Apollo landings it also uses a Google maps like interface and maps the complete moon. Zoom all the way in and youll get cheese.

Using the Googles Maps API a user has created a great interface to Google that displays satellite images with a street maps transparencies, allowing a user to easily get the best of both worlds. Something worth checking out for anyone who enjoys Google maps.

Another great map site that utilizes Java to display maps and direction. What makes this map search unique is the ability to the quick speed of the map location once the Java applet has been loaded, the ability to quickly zoom out then zoom back in to get a better idea of your location on the map, and the ability to easily move the map around and zoom in with just click/dragging/selecting with your mouse.
