Adder ( http://www.computerhope.com/jargon/a/adder.htm ) -
1. Component of a computer processor that adds two numbers sent from the processing instructions.
2. Circuit that sums the amplitudes of two input signals. A half adder is a group of logic gates that are connected to create a logic circuit, incapable of handling addition for two numbers. A full adder is a circuit that adds two binary numbers.

news.zdnet.com -- The plug-and-play vulnerability that caused havoc for Windows 2000 users last week also holds a serious risk for some Windows XP users, Microsoft said Tuesday.
Multilingual MSN Messenger Worm Spreads
pcworld.com -- Users of Microsoft's MSN Messenger should be aware of a new "smart" worm that checks the configuration of their Windows client and sends a message in the appropriate language, according to security companies Akonix Systems and Symantec.
Creative Ships Worm-Ridden Music Players
informationweek.com -- Around 4,000 of its Zen Neon players--all of which were sent to Japan in July--are infected with the Wullik.b worm, Creative says.

Flaws revealed in Adobe Version Cue
infoworld.com -- Two new security vulnerabilities were revealed this week in Adobe Systems' (Profile, Products, Articles) Version Cue software, the second and third security flaws discovered in the company's software in less than two weeks, according to security consulting firm iDefense.
Windows Firewall flaw may hide open ports
news.com.com -- A flaw in Windows Firewall may prevent users from seeing all the open network ports on a Windows XP or Windows Server 2003 computer.
Flaw may hide malicious software
news.zdnet.com -- Miscreants could hide their malicious software on a Windows PC by using overly long registry keys, security experts have warned.
Worm Targets Online Gamers To Steal Virtual Stuff
news.yahoo.com -- A keylogger-equipped worm that steals usernames and passwords from the massive medieval fantasy role-playing game, "Priston Tale," demonstrates the economic power of the virtual world, said a security firm Wednesday.

Online scams emerge in Katrina's wake
news.com.com -- Hurricane Katrina has spawned more than misery and destruction--a new wave of scam e-mails and Web sites are exploiting the tragedy.
ID theft spyware scam uncovered
news.bbc.co.uk -- Thousands of computer users have been caught out by a huge ID theft ring.
Security firm Sunbelt Software said it stumbled across a US-based server storing megabytes of data stolen from compromised computers while researching spyware infections.

Google recently released the Google Desktop Beta; a great new tool that enables a user instant access to frequently accessed information such as weather, news, and stocks. This tool also provides access to tools such as a scratchpad to write notes in, Email, photos, and of course search.

In addition to Google Desktop Google also released it's own version of an Instant Messenger (IM) client, enabling users to text each other and even voice chat.
