1. Weekly Computer Term.
------------------------------------------------------------

Cleartext ( http://www.computerhope.com/jargon/c/cleartex.htm ) -
Term used to describe any data that is not encrypted. For example, telnet transfers network data as clear text data, meaning if the network was being sniffed, a username and password could easily be obtained. Users concerned about their security should never store or transfer their data as clear text.

http://www.recolored.com/
A fantastic software program that enables users to quickly and easily change their black-and-white pictures into color pictures. The program is currently in BETA and is free to download and try for Microsoft Windows 98SE, 2000, and XP users.

http://www.writely.com/
Another interesting and great free tool, Writely is currently in beta and is a site that is similar to a word processor except that it is online and allows users to create their own documents, collaborate on the same document with other users, blog the document, and much more. This is definitely another site worth visiting.

http://www.realuser.com/
This week we also came across Passfaces, which is a very interesting idea that uses different peoples faces as a method of entering a secure area. For example, instead of having to enter a password to login you would click on several different faces. Interestingly enough it is easier for people to remember peoples faces then complex passwords or codes. Visit the site to see an online demo of this technology as well as additional information about it.

http://www.protopage.com/v2
Another interesting site we've been trying out recently, Protopage is an AJAX start page that enables users to create and customize their own start page. There are several services like this site, however this service has several features not found in any other site we're aware of.
