Loebner Prize ( http://www.computerhope.com/jargon/l/loebnerp.htm ) -
Contest developed by Hugh Loebner and The Cambridge Center for Behavioral Studies, the Loebner Prize is the first implementation of the Turing Test that awards a Grand Prize of $100000 USD and a Gold Medal for the first computer whose responses were indistinguishable from a human's. Each year an annual prize of $2000 and bronze medal is awarded for most human computer.

Virus emails drop to record low
pcw.co.uk -- The number of emails carrying viruses has plummeted to fewer than one per cent of all messages sent, according to the April virus trends report from BlackSpider Technologies.
Macs a Bigger Target for Virus Attacks

Homeland Security Audit Flags 'Critical' Linux Bug

Internetnews.com -- Zero-day exploits -- the most difficult hack attacks to defend against -- are on the rise, according to the SANS Institute, a security research organization.

FTC Orders Wallace To Pay $4 Million For Spyware Scam
informationweek.com -- Users were duped into thinking they needed software being sold by "Spam King" Sanford Wallace because he exploited an Internet Explorer vulnerability to install real spyware on their PCs.
Antispam list gets spammed
news.com.com -- They may've signed up for the service to stay free of unsolicited e-mail, but people in Blue Security's "Do Not Intrude Registry" are getting spammed, the company said Wednesday.
Trojan Snags World Of Warcraft Passwords To Cash Out Accounts
informationweek.com -- A new password-stealing Trojan targeting players of the popular online game "World of Warcraft" hopes to make money off secondary sales of gamer goods, a security company warned Tuesday.

We recently came across Terragen, an amazingly realistic scenery generator. Not only is this one of the most sophisticated programs like this we've ever seen it's free for personal non-commercial use. This is a great tool for users who are interested in creating great images, movies, or backdrops for their work. Visit the above link for some example images of what this program is capable of doing.

We also recently came across Lulu, a great resource that allows any user to publish and distribute their own work. Some of the services Lulu provides are the ability for users to submit their own book, music, pictures, movies, calendars, etc. Lulu will not only help with the publishing of each of these works but will also help with the distribution and selling.
