1. Weekly Computer Term.

DLT ( http://www.computerhope.com/jargon/d/dlt.htm ) -
Short for Digital Linear Tape, DLT is a technology initially developed by Digital who later sold the technology to Quantum. DLT helps address storage capacity and access time when backing up information to tape drives by increasing the total capacity and speed of the tape drive and disks.
SDLT, or Super Digital Linear Tape, is a variant of DLT that was developed later and increased the overall capacity, doubling the capacity of disks and allowing up to 300GB to be stored.

redherring.com - Antispam startup Blue Security said Wednesday it has closed down its business after a spammer attacked its web site last week, crashed its servers, and sent threatening emails to its users, proving what detractors have been saying all along: that the companys spam-fighting techniques wont work.

Word flaw used in attack waits for fix
news.com.com -- A new, yet-to-be-fixed security hole in Microsoft Word exposes computer users to cyberattack, Symantec warned Friday.
The biggest hacking incident in the web-hosting history
zone-h.org -- Yesterday the Turkish cracker going by the handle "Iskorpitx", succesfully hacked 21,549 websites in one shot (plus 17,000 as our last update) and defaced (on a secondary page) all of them with a message showing the Turkish flag (with AtaTurk face on it).
Rootkit Infiltrates Online Poker Software
eweek.com -- A Trojan with malicious rootkit features hidden in a legitimate software package distributed by online gaming tools vendor Check Raised has the ability to hijack log-in information for multiple online poker Web sites, according to a warning from Finnish security vendor F-Secure.
Spot a Bug, Go to Jail
wired.com -- A new federal prosecution again raises the issue of whether computer security experts must fear prison time for investigating and reporting vulnerabilities.

Skype has recently announced that it's allowing users within the United States and Canada to call anywhere else in the United States and Canada for free at least until the end of this year. This allows you to call other Skype users as well as any other landline telephone, which means you can call friends and family all over the United States and Canada for free even if they don't have a computer. This is another great reason for anyone who has not yet tried to use Skype to give it a shot.

Google also recently introduced Google Trends, another fun web tool that allows you to easily and quickly compare multiple search queries against each other. For example, a search for "IBM, Dell" well display search volume for both keywords, display news reference volume, and see where in the world searches are being done. Users can also perform a single keyword searches, for example, searching for "computer" will display all the same above results for the computer keyword.

Finally, we recently came across a great free game called Plasma Pong. A great take on the original classic pong game that utilizes fluid dynamics adding a great looking and fun new twist to Pong.
