Escape sequence ( http://www.computerhope.com/jargon/e/escasequ.htm ) -
Two or more characters that often begin with an escape character that tells the computer or software program to perform a function or command. Below is a listing of some of the commonly used and available escape sequences used in programming languages and some text editors.
\b Backspace
\f Form feed
\n Newline
\r Carriage return
\t Horizontal tab
Below is an example of how an escape sequence appears to a computer and then how it is displayed to the user.
Hello\nThis is an example of\nescape sequences.
The above example with escape sequences would display the below text.
Hello
This is an example of
escape sequences.

Hackers crack Apple, Microsoft music codes
news.com.com -- In the continuation of a long-running arms race, both Apple Computer and Microsoft have seen their music protection technologies come under fire in recent days.
'Critical' patch for Office coming
news.com.com -- Microsoft plans to release a "critical" security update for Office next week, one of three bulletins it will distribute as part of its monthly patch cycle.
Junk emailers get the picture with image spam
siliconrepublic.com -- Spam that uses text embedded in images to fool security filters has seen a massive rise recently and now accounts for close to 25pc of all unsolicited email, Barracuda Networks has claimed.
* Privacy:
Samsung Web site hosts password stealing trojan
zdnet.com.au -- Samsung's US Web site is hosting a Trojan horse that logs keystrokes, disables antivirus applications and steals online banking access codes, according to Internet security firm Websense.
Metaverse breached: Second Life customer database hacked
techcrunch.com -- High profile virtual reality game Second Life reported today that one of its databases containing unencrypted user information was breached two days ago. The company confirmed that this is the first time user data has been breached since the service opened for public use in 2003. The database did not include customer credit card numbers, a requirement to register for the game, as they were kept in a different database. The breached database did include unencrypted names and addresses, and the encrypted passwords and encrypted payment information of all Second Life users.

4. What's new at Computer Hope this week?
------------------------------------------------------------
- Corrected quiz pages with errors causing users to not complete all questions on the quiz feature. In addition updated the quiz script to help prevent this issue from occurring again. Finally, added a new feature that will display the difficulty of each of the questions based off the results and and overall results page for those users who go through the complete quiz.
- Updated additional information / edit this page script with new features to help combat spam submitted to Computer Hope and help filter and clean other e-mail messages allowing Computer Hope answer e-mail more efficiently. The past edit page and web master pages have been deprecated and all links should now point to the new edit script.
- Posted updated version of Computer Hope print preview script. Updated version includes various fixes for errors that have been encountered with the previous version.
- Posted updated version of feedback script. This new script will help us easily identify what pages our users are not finding information on.
- Converted and updated all local computers from Microsoft Outlook to Mozilla Thunderbird. We hope this conversion will help us manage our e-mail more efficiently at a lower cost than Outlook. While converting we also went through over 6,000 e-mails.
- Posted updated version of Search engine that contain new rules and minor fixes.
- Posted over a 1,000 updates containing hundreds of different fixes and dozens of new pages.
