* Virus:

Valentine Or Virus?
blog.washingtonpost.com -- It could be a Happy Virus Day for you as virus writers love to take advantage of the blizzard of e-greeting cards swirling around the Internet.

Finnish antivirus firm F-Secure warns that the poisoned love letters already are circulating. The company says it has intercepted a nasty virus included in a spam campaign. The virus is disguised as a Valentine's Day greeting relayed via e-greeting card giant AmericanGreetings.com. According to F-Secure, when an e-card recipient clicks on the related e-mail link, it redirects you to a page asking you to install a fake Macromedia Flash Player by Adobe. This player actually is a Trojan horse program that downloads and installs a password-stealing virus onto the user's system.

* Security:

Cisco warns of more router vulnerabilities
news.com.com -- The intrusion prevention capabilities of Cisco Systems' routers could be prone to attack, after the networking giant revealed two vulnerabilities in its key operating system.

Penn State researchers ID worms by speed
news.yahoo.com -- Researchers looking to root out computer attacks hope that speed kills. Penn State University scientists said they've devised new anti-worm technology that can identify and contain worms milliseconds after an attack by analyzing data packets' rate or frequency of connections, and their diversity of connections to other networks.

Microsoft fixes 20 security holes
news.bbc.co.uk -- Windows users are being urged to install Microsoft's February security update which contains 12 patches for 20 vulnerabilities.

Microsoft warns of six "critical" security flaws
today.reuters.com -- Microsoft Corp. issued six "critical" security patches on Tuesday to fix flaws in its software products that the company warned could allow attackers to take control of a user's computer.

* Privacy: No new privacy news this week.

http://www.maxtorsolutions.com/en/catalog/MSS_II_Dual/
We recently came across the Maxtor Shared Storage II, a 1TB storage device that can be connected directly to a network and allow any computer connected to the network to easily backup data and/or mirror up to 500GB of data for extra security. The device also has privacy rights, allowing you to password protect data and give data certain access rights. In addition to being a great backup device the device can also be used to share data across a network and even allows you to connect two USB devices allowing for even more storage or allow printers to be shared across a network.
