3. Computer viruses, worms, security, and/or privacy threats
------------------------------------------------------------
* Virus: No new virus related news this week.
* Security:
Download backdoor found in Windows Update
pcmag.co.uk -- A security firm has warned that parts of Windows designed to download official patches and updates are being used to download malicious files.
Hacker demos how to defeat Citibanks virtual keyboard
blogs.zdnet.com -- A security researcher in India is warning that Citibank's new virtual keyboard anti-phishing mechanism can be easily defeated.
Google preparing to police web
roughtype.com -- Increasingly worried by the use of conventional web sites to distribute the viruses that turn innocent PCs into botnet "zombies," Google appears to be readying a plan to police the web. If the plan goes forward, Google will use new software to automatically identify compromised web pages in its database and label them as "potentially harmful" in its search results. Because being labeled as suspicious by Google could devastate a site's traffic, the move would raise the security stakes for site owners dramatically.
Microsoft Patches 19 Bugs in Windows, Office, and IE
news.yahoo.com -- Seven critical security bulletins. That's the tally in Microsoft's May edition of Patch Tuesday. The release fixes 19 vulnerabilities in Windows, Office, and Internet Explorer. Seven of the patched vulnerabilities could lead to code execution attacks against Word, Office, and Excel, according to the Microsoft advisories.
Quantum cryptography kinda sorta hacked
engadget.com -- It's always only a matter of time. A little less than a year after the first quantum cryptographic network was demoed, a group of researchers at MIT have announced a working implementation of a hack that's been around in theory since 1998 but never implemented.
Firms hit rivals with web attacks
news.bbc.co.uk -- Legitimate businesses are turning to cyber criminals to help them cripple rival websites, say security experts.
Security pros warn of 'critical' Winamp bug
computerworld.com -- Security companies today warned Winamp users that the music player application has a bug that could give attackers the means to hijack PCs.
QuickTime update patches Java flaw
macworld.com -- Apple on Tuesday offered QuickTime 7.1.6, an update to its core multimedia software for Mac OS X and Windows. Among the issues adjusted in this release is a fix for an exploit in QuickTime for Java that first came to light at a security conference two weeks ago.

Phisher Says He Makes a Fortune Using Re-used Passwords
blogs.pcworld.com -- I came across a posted interview with an active phisher by way of Alex Eckelberry's SunbeltBLOG. It's an interesting read for a glimpse into the dark side, though it doesn't break any news about the phishing world.
Second Hack At University Exposes Info On 22,000 Students
informationweek.com -- For the second time this year, the computer system at the University of Missouri has been hacked into and student's personal information has been stolen.
