Top News Story: U.S. Analyst Firm Warns Internet Gridlock By 2010

allheadlinenews.com -- United States-based analyst firm Nemertes Research on Saturday warned over the emerging Internet gridlock by 2010 as it further noted that upgrading would cost around $137 billion globally.

In a report that was partly funded by the Internet Innovation Alliance (IIA) which campaigns for universal broadband in the United States Nemertes expressed alarm on the alleged "drastic slowdown as the network struggles with the amount of data being carried on it."

computerworld.com -- A noted Israeli cryptographer whose recent research note on the security implications of microprocessor bugs has generated widespread attention now says his paper was not meant to cause alarm but to raise awareness about an important issue

Microsoft Fixes Gaffe in Time for Patch Tuesday
computerworld.com -- For the second time in less than three weeks, Microsoft Corp. had to apologize for problems with a tool that many IT managers rely on to deploy the software vendors security patches and other software updates.

Mozilla to fix 9-month-old Firefox bug as concerns grow
infoworld.com -- Mozilla will patch Firefox against a nine-month-old protocol handler bug, its chief security executive announced Friday, after researchers demonstrated that the vulnerability was more serious than first thought.

E-mail flaw comes back from the dead in Leopard
infoworld.com -- A serious security flaw in Apple Mail, patched more than a year ago in "Tiger," also known as Mac OS X 10.4, has reared its head again in the latest version of the operating system, according to Heise Security.

DNS hacked again
news.yahoo.com -- Amit Klein recently released details on DNS server cache poisoning attacks that affect both BIND (Berkeley Internet Name Domain) and Windows DNS servers. It goes to show that every time you think a problem with a well-known protocol or service has been solved, it may not be.
