3. Computer Virus, Security and/or privacy threats

* Virus:

Britney Spears is not just a pop star - she's a new worm squirming its way through the Web.

The low-risk bug was identified Tuesday by antivirus experts including the ones at antivirus Emergency Response Team
(AVERT), the antivirus research division of Network Associates.

The visual basic-based worm originally named VBS/BritneyPic@MM and renamed VBS/Chick@M is currently being tracked across
Europe but has the potential to spread worldwide.

* Security:

CNET: Programmers have found a vulnerability in Linux that could allow protective firewall software to grant malicious
computer users access to protected networks.

The flaw, which affects versions 2.4.14 through 2.4.18-pre9 of the Linux kernel, is in a component of the Netfilter firewall
software. The component is involved when two computer users chat directly with each other using the Internet Relay Chat (IRC)
system.

CNN: Two prominent security groups urged Microsoft Internet Explorer users to apply the latest cumulative security patch for
their browsers early this week, calling the flaws "serious" and the need to apply the patch "imperative."

The Computer Emergency Response Team/Coordination Center and Internet Security Systems' X-Force security monitoring team
issued their alerts on Monday and Tuesday, respectively.

* Privacy:

- ZDNet: eBay is updating its privacy policy and user agreements, making it easier for the company to disclose members'
personal information or to ban people from the site.

The changes, which the online auction giant announced Monday, will go into effect March 19 for all consumers who register
with the site after that date, and on April 19 for all other people.
