1. Short for Alternating Current, AC is an electrical current that reverses or alternates its direction of travel.

A normal wall outlet in the United States is 110 volts transmitting currents at 60 hertz per second. European power systems use 220 volts alternating current at 50 Hz.

2. Short for Anonymous Coward, AC is commonly used in message boards and newsgroups for users who do not wish to divulge their identity.
3. Short for Asheron's Call, AC is a popular MMORPG.

- CNN: The world's most popular software for scrambling sensitive e-mails suffers from a programming flaw that could allow hackers to attack a user's computer and, in some circumstances, unscramble messages.

- The Register: Security researchers yesterday released details of a cross domain scripting flaw in Internet Explorer ahead of a fix by Microsoft.

- ZDNET: A security mailing list has alerted Apple Computer OS X users to a program that could let a hacker piggyback malicious code on downloads from the company's SoftwareUpdate service.

* Privacy:

- ExtremeTech: Gamespot.com, a popular games download site, is promoting a "download accelerator" which will place a digital-rights-management (DRM) and spyware package on your PC.
