Information about DYNIX/ptx Unix variant

Quick links

Introduction
Unix information and commands

INTRODUCTION

DYNIX/ptx is IBM's enhanced enterprise class operating system for NUMACenter and the NUMAQ series of enterprise systems. DYNIX/ptx is designed for the Intel Architecture environment, and it provides both a data center-proven 32-bit open system OS and a low-risk path to 64-bit computing.

DYNIX/ptx and its layered software products are designed specifically for high-end commercial database management system (DBMS) environments requiring scalability, performance, high availability, and ease of manageability. The largest open systems relational database applications in the world today—supporting thousands of users and many terabytes of data—are running DYNIX/ptx. A data center operating DYNIX/ptx is ideal for demanding mission-critical business applications that require very high throughput, quick response times, and 7x24 availability.
