Originally founded in 1986 by president and chief executive officer, Jim Harrer, Mustang Software was a leading provider in BBS (Bulletin Board System) software until 1996. With the fast adoption of the Internet the BBS quickly became obsolete. Later, Mustang developed software for use by the Internet such as Mustang Message Center that was introduced in 1997 as the first commercially available e-mail management solution. Today, these companies are part of Avaya.
