    no hardwire internet

    I bought a laptop with W7. it has a wireless card that works fine. however, i try to hardwire it to my network and it will not connect. how do i do that? i try to connect to network and it automatically tries to go to the wireless.

    Go to Network Settings and select the connection you want

      Well, I found out that you cant connect to the internet by cat5 unless the wire is physically connected to the router.

       ??? How were you trying to connect if you weren't connected to the router or modem? Never mind - as long as you have it working.

        HAHA...no i was saying i connected the cable to my laptop but not to the router. dumb mistake. lol

        better off then me.

        my router manual had a typo where the 5 was missing.

        So, after some struggling I managed to  get the cat sedated and plug his tail into the ethernet port, and whaddya know! nothing happened! It was about that time I passed out from blood loss (cat's are very scratchy when you try to put there tail in a ethernet port for some reason).
         

        I was trying to dereference Null Pointers before it was cool.
