Are you using a MS CD to do the install? Or is this a slipstream image file?

That's your problem. You need to use an original retail version, not a copied disc.

There are three ways to obtain the Windows XP Service Pack 3:
        * You can turn on Automatic Updates so that your computer downloads the latest service pack automatically.
        * You can download the service pack manually online.
        * You can order the service pack on a CD.

it may help you to recover your problem

          hello,

i think this is not your CD problem , first of all you have clean your Hard drive primary drive.
then you install XP in your system .

if this installation  in running this gives any file is corrupt so, its CD problem but now this is not CD problem.

          so try again this installation.
