    found new hardware

    I'm running windows XP. Every time my computer boots up the found new hardware comes up to install or update drivers. Everythings all ready  install. Even the hard drive. What can I do to resolve this coming up everytime????

    Which device is bringing the Found new hardware wizard up? It should tell you. If it doesn't click next and should say something like Multimedia Video Device or the name of you piece of harware.

      What ever the device is(cd,usb,dvd drive ) can't be found. I have tried updating . In the  device manager every thing is there.

        they are numbers I think one of them is  hard drive , sony dvd/rw,LG RW/DVD.

          Find the Sony in device manager...right clik it and select "Un-install"...
          Re-boot.
          It will automatically be re-installed.

            It's not a HDD...it's an optical drive.
            Power down and unplug either the data or power cable.
            Power up and remove it again in device manager.
            Then power down and re-connect it.

                all my usb ports work fine with other devices,camera,printer .eg
