Here's one for you. As admin I can not get my desktop gadgets to work. I tried twice with microsoft and they couldn't get them to work. The other day I thought I would start up a guest account without admin privileges and when I set it up, guess what, Yep the desktop gadgets work. Strange Huh. Any of you ever run across that?

I have 3 widgets that have stopped working...refreshing/re-installing has done nothing...
Since they all update over the web i'm suspecting a low level infection of some sort.

except your post was neither a discussion, help with anything else, or general chat. (I'm assuming this is about that nonsense "how many views will this post get" thread, which I made a point not to view.

u know what? im leaving this forum.

Make sure to be really dramatic about it. Oh wait, you are. nevermind.

2 k's and three s's? you must feel really strongly about this. It wasn't an "opinion" and nobody "went bezerk" (nobody went berserk, either).

dopey! such strong language! More interesting, Dopey was the exact quality that your post had, and why it was locked.

There is no reason to ban you. And we don't want... Or something.

Anyway, regarding the original post (oops)...

I don't even know what a "desktop gadget" is... I'm guessing it's the sidebar gadgets in Vista and 7?
I was trying to dereference Null Pointers before it was cool.

Yep; in 7 they released the gadgets from the sidebar in a sort of fashion, so they're just "gadgets" now.

Gadgets put information and fun—like news, pictures, games, and the phases of the moon—right on your desktop.

In Windows Vista, gadgets are lined up on the right side of your desktop. Windows 7 sets them free on the screen, where you can move and resize them as you like.
