Screen Issue on a HP DV9000
    « on: May 14, 2010, 08:00:20 AM »
Is the screen bad? or the GPU Bad?

Because when i power the laptop up, i get distorted washed away colors in windows vista, but when i hook the laptop to the an external monitor i get great picture quality.

I already replaced the screen with a different model that worked, but was not for the specific model of the laptop and it had the same issue..

So im stumped on what the problem could be.. Any help guys is greatly apprecieated.

    Thanks in advance.

Because an external monitor looks perfectly normal i'd think off the top of my head that the laptop vid chip is still good...

So the next logical suspect would be the laptop screen connections itself...
Has this been dropped recently ? ?

I don't see how it could be the GPU since it controls the signal that goes to an external monitor.  My vote would have to be with the screen.
