laptop powers up then powers down right away
    « on: May 15, 2010, 12:43:00 PM »
Hello.  I recently had to replace the dc jack on my sister's laptop.  It is a dell precision m65.  Once i had soldered the new jack to the motherboard the system would power up then shut off right away again.  I figured that i ruined the motherboard while soldering so i ordered a new motherboard.  Once I installed it, the laptop did the exact same thing.  the lights would come one when i hit power then just shut right back down again.  Any help would be great.  thanks.

That Dell may also have a voltage regulator board.  Can we assume the AC adapter is good?

      Don't see a voltage board.

All I can think of is you installed something improperly since the same thing happened with 2 motherboards and the adapter is new, too.
