Address/mailing program
« on: May 24, 2010, 12:29:08 PM »
I am looking for an address program similar to the one in Quick Books where you can sort your names and addresses into "types".  I really don't want to spend $200 for Quick Books just for their address program.  I have Quick Books Pro 2008, however, it will not work on my Windows 7, 64 bit system.  I have thousands of names that fall into various categories (types) so a program that just prints out labels and doesn't allow you to selectively print by type wouldn't be quite what I need.  Spending $20 to $50 for such a program is fine, I just don't want to pay for everything that Quick Books offers when all I need is one part of the program.  A quick check through the internet didn't bring up anything that gave me actual reviews of the programs out there.  I am running Microsoft Office Home Student and I couldn't find anything on that that had a mailing program.  Does anyone out there know of such a program and how user friendly is it?  The address program in my old Office 97 was almost impossible to understand, set up and use.  Thanks

So sorry to take so long in answering you but for whatever reason the email from CH ended up in my SPAM folder.  Anyway, I have Windows 7, 64 bit system and I email through Yahoo.

I wasn't completely sure if you need a program for email or printed address labels.

If it is printed labels Avery does a fairly good job.

I need this for snail-mail.  I checked out the Avery link you supplied and there are several downloads but they do not specify exactly what they are for.  I sent off an email to them and explained what it is that I need and hopefully one of their free downloads has what I need.  Thanks for your input.

I've used their software many times and it generally worked out pretty good but I wasn't dealing with thousands of names.

Of course it works best with their labels.  At least they make labels that will work with most printers.
