Takes L-O-N-G FOR DESKTOP TO APPEAR!
    « on: June 01, 2010, 01:42:26 AM »
    So, I have xp professional.
    ----
    I press the on/off button.
I click to use XP instead of 2002.
I put in my password then I click enter.
    ---
    Then my BACKGROUND shows!
    Woo-hoo!  Where are my . . . desktop items?
    Where's the taskbar/toolbar whatchamacallit?
    GAHHH!  MY COMPUTER'S FREAKED UP!

    ---I wait 2 to 3 minutes---
Oh, there you are desktop items!  I thought I lost you!  I missed you too taskbar thingy.

HELP.  This has become a daily problem. . . I have to wait . . . for a couple of minutes.  And then the screen pops up.  But the bg always shows first.

    Any advice?

        Download CCleaner:
        http://www.filehippo.com/download_ccleaner/

        Install it, Run it.

Once the Window appears hit: Run Cleaner

Give it some time to work, once it has finished hit: Tools on the sidebar -> Startup

Please give the list of the startup items on that list.

What would that have to do with ANYTHING? Please ignore the above advice.

What Allan is probably suggesting is the above advice may do little or nothing to improve your startup times...
DLoad install and run StartupCPL from Mike Lin's website...

Let's have a looksee at what apps are loading at startup and bogging you down...

Hold on, yes.  Something else is preventing me from installing the Startup CPL.  It's as if I try to install something, the program just closes.  This happens with Firefox Add-ons, Security Sites, Antivirus protection sites, and any page with too much of the word 'install' or 'virus'. Ugh.

It only installs at certain times.  So as of now, it can't.

              It's installed...

              Open Control Panel...then clik Startup.

No idea what fghij is but the fact that it has inserted itself into multiple starup  locations is a problem. Run a full scan with your AV and with MalwareBytes

It doesn't matter, since OP's computer is clearly infected.
