I am being told I need to install adobe 10 flash player, but it won't install.  The download manager pops up and says it is but the sites still tell me I need it

    1) Do not post the same question more than once.

    2) Why would you post in the malware forum anyway?

      1.  I apologize.
      2.  I have recently had trouble and used this forum and I was assuming this might be a residual malware/spyware infection.

Then you certainly should have mentioned that, no?
If you think it may be malware follow the instructions in the post at the top of this forum and post all of the requested logs, though if this is the only problem you are experiencing I doubt it's malware related.

I assure you this is the last thing I mention on this forum.  The ability to understand the itricate workings of a computer does not give a person the right to behave condecendingly and rude to someone who came to this site for ligimate help.

        Good day.

There was nothing intentionally condescending about my post and I'm sorry you took it that way. I sincerely suggest you post the logs if you think it's a malware problem.

Which Browser are you using? which sites?

If it's a "download manager" then it's possible that all you had done was download the Flash 10 installer, but not actually install it. you would need to run the installation program if that is the case. (this will require you to close all browsers and their windows).

It probably isn't very likely it's a residual infection- if you followed all the malware experts suggestions to the letter and followed through to the end, and they said you were clean- then you were clean. Also, this sort of symptom doesn't sound like something that malware would do.
