    nividea micron video driver
    « on: July 20, 2005, 05:16:33 AM »
I had nvidia miron display driver which was saved on my computer c: drive and as my OS could not start due to a windows protection error, i reinstall windows 98 and then found that video driver missing( due to My Os being reinstalled).

There are lots of display  driver downnload sites for nvidia but how to know which driver my display card use?

Can it be seen from device manager?

Unless the videocard is detected and installed by Windows, it can not be seen from the device manager as it would be listed as an unknown device.

You may wish to try the following:

    1. Start
    2. Run
    3. Type DXDIAG
    4. Monitor tab

    What does it say?

Do you still have the documentation and/or box that came with the videocard?

Are you certain this is a videocard and not a chipset?

      Thanks for the reply.

yes it is a video card.

      The monitor tab shows this:

      Standard PCI graphics adapter (VGA)
      manufacturer: standard display type

current display mode: 640x480 (4 bits)

      Monitor: Default monitor

      ain driver: vga.drv

      version 4.10.00.1998 (English)

      Certified: Yes

DXDIAG can most likely nog recognize its full details because the driveres are not installed.

      Can you inspect:

      A. Documentation
      B. Box
      C. Videocard

for the full name? This will make determining what family it is part of easier. There are three Nvidia families; Geforce/TNT2, Quadro and Riva 128/128ZX.

Download and run "Belarc Advisor" or "Everest" to get the details.
You will be one happy camper when you see the difference that drivers make.  :)

Follow advice given..... You have a choice of two >500gfx or the 700gfx drivers>http://list.driverguide.com/list/company663/

Just make sure you download the right one?

downloaded belarc advisor and that shows only this for my display:

          Standard PCI Graphics Adapter (VGA)
          [Display adapter]
          Default Monitor

Anyway I am in the site provided by merlin_2 and seeing if any of the two drivers 500 and 700 GFX works.

          Thanks
