Hi

I had a problem my hp tx2500 laptop it booted up but just a blank screen appeared so I took the covers of the hard drive & memory card off and its the 2 memory cards which clip out by holding the silver clips in , now iv noticed the black plastic surround which has the silver clips attached the top of it has a small chip out of it and I gathered that's the problem just wondered if anybody could give me advice obviously that black bracket is on the mother board so do I need a new motherboard or can I buy a replacement bracket and how do they fit in is it soldered or clip etc I'd really appreciate the advice thanks

Bad News:
From your description, it appears to be the RAM socket is damaged.  It cannot be repaired & motherboards cost almost as much as a new computer.

I agree with CC but you could try to run it by a computer shop and get a price.
