If the monitor is set to standby, yes. If the computer is set to standby, no,

TIll now i was only aware of "standby mode" and not know the difference between "monitor standby mode"
        and "computer standby mode".

        Kindly clarify.

        ------

I want this for to save some electricity.

        In this site:

        http://michaelbluejay.com/electricity/computers.html

        written that:

[The monitor uses about 35-80 watts, and the computer uses about 65 watts. If you turn the monitor off and leave the computer running then the monitor uses 0 watts and the computer still uses 65 watts.

Putting the computer into Standby mode saves even more because it gets the computer down to 3 to 35 watts, and the monitor down to just a few watts.]

You could simply turn off everything when not in use.

Windows power management allows you to set both HDD and monitor to save power.

However, if you truly wish to save power; shut off the computer. It will live longer too.
