    ...so that you can avoid accidentally bumping into the touchpad while typing, and have the cursor click somewhere else?

      You may have sorted this but just for future reference there should be a Fn key that does that, for example mine is Fn F9 which disables the touchpad.
      Not sure what drivers have to do with your original request.
