    I had to reinstall my windows vista.because windows defender would not go on.this fixed the problem.but I lost all my personal files.been told to go to search type drive:\windows old in the start search box.and then click windows old in my programs list.tried this but nothing happened .i have windows vista .ultimate.so why cant I rein store or find my lost files.please can you help.i have been told it is easy .but when nothing comes up .i am not so sure.

    What kind of disk was used to reinstall the system? If it was a restore disk from a manufacturer, your files are most likely gone as these usually restore the computer to a factory state.
