Google as default search engine
« on: October 15, 2010, 11:35:13 AM »
To make a long story short, I had to reformat my hard drive. When I finished, Microsoft updates automatically upgraded the version of Internet Explorer that was on my computer and when I went to use it I discovered that Bing was the default search engine in the upper right corner of my browser instead of Google.  I've never encountered this issue before. How do I change it back to Google? I don't like Bing.
Thanks :)

You can simply do it by opening Tools > options
Enter your favourite page and click 'Set home page'

    That's it !

That's not "it". He's not asking about his home page.

To make Google as your default search engine do as following:
First go to Tools menu on your Internet Explorer, click on Manage Add-ons..., on the left pane click on Search Providers, than on the right pane you will see the name bing, go in the left down corner and click on Find more search providers... find the Google Search Suggestions and click in Add to Internet Explorer, after that close the Manage Add-ons window and Open it again, go to Search Providers, right click on Google and chose Set as default, than right click on bing and click Remove. At the end click on Close and restart your browser.
    This is it.
    Cheers.

Alternatively, just click on the drop down arrow on the right of the search box and select Find More Providers.  Then, find the Google Search Suggestions and click in Add to Internet Explorer.
