Okay one minute, trouble the next.
« on: August 02, 2005, 11:28:01 PM »
[size=10]Hello,

I have been having trouble with my Internet Explorer, two problems bugging me like a pebble in my shoe.

I have been seeing random words being made into links. I've run Adaware and Norton Anti-Virus but neither are picking anything up. How can I fix this?

Since I received my computer, I was not being interupted by any pop-ups, but for some reason, in the past two week, I have found myself plagued with them. Why would this happen and how can I fix it?
In case any of this should matter, and I don't know if it will, I will type it out:

A few weeks ago, I accidentily deleted my cookies, and the connection I had set up was deleted (I have no idea why, but I was able to re-make it). Around the same time, these problems occured.

Please help me!

Thank you,

Mandy Rae

Mozilla Firefox is the solution to all your Internet Explorer problems.

You may also wish to choose from the following scanners to see if they pick up any boogies that your current scanners missed:

Virus scanners
AVG Free
-- Anti virus scanner
Trend Micro Housecall
-- Online anti virus scanner.

Anti spy/malware
Microsoft Antispyware
-- Anti spyware scanner. Windows XP Home and Professional only.
Spybot Search & Destroy
-- Anti spyware scanner
Adaware SE Personal
-- Anti spyware scanner

Firewalls
Use both a hardware and software firewall.
Be advised as dual software firewalls may cause problems

ZoneAlarm Free
-- Free firewall - more user friendly
Sygate Personal
-- Free firewall - more configuration options

Removal tools
The following files are not substitutes for the ones described above.
They are either diagnostic tools or removal tools for malware of a certain kind

HijackThis
-- Manual malware remover. Post the HijackThis log generated only if requested!
McAfee Stinger
-- Virus removal tool. No substitute for a fully functional virus scanner!
CWshredder
-- CoolWebSearch removal tool. Widely known and persistant Hijacker.

lol hes saying to get rid of the norton and believe you me it put a virus in my bootsector when i removed its goback ( has to do with system restoreing )you will deffinately do better with the avg free edition ( save the install driver to a cd ) ... also get the suggested spyware adware removal programs ... be careful with hijack this .. you have to know what to allow it to remove or it will remove your net connect driver ( happened to me and i had to reinstall my system on 4 different partitions 4 x ) to get it back .
Some programs work too good .
also the yahoo toolbar has a good popup blocker and also an antispy spyware scanner that is very good .
If you have bonzi buddy or related //// get rid of it !!!
hope this is a help .
