Mouse settings revert when I reboot
    « on: November 13, 2010, 02:18:33 PM »
I have been using a Logitech "Comfort laser" wireless keyboard and mouse for years.
Recently the mouse has been acting up, so I purchased a Logitech M505 wireless mouse (original replacement parts are NOT available from Logitech!) in case it failed completely. Yesterday that happenned.
After I installed the new mouse receiver (USB, not PS2 like the original) I discovered that everytime I reboot the "swap buttons"  feature (I nust use my left hand as my right hand no longer works) has reset.

How do I get the mouse buttons to be properly left-hand oriented when I turn on my computer?

I do click "APPLY" after setting the mouse up.
I have tried both the windows mouse setup and Logitech's mouseware/Setpoint setups.
I found I actually need both because I also usr a Remote Wonder 2 from ATI and I need it's mouse click buttons to remain reversed as well.

    Any thought would be appreciated,
    Eric T.

Current OS running? Download Mike Lin's Startup CPL. Click on Standalone EXE Version(34 kb). After downloading(folder or desktop), extract the file and open(run) the program. Look for any "logitech files only" and uncheck. Click Apply then Exit. If it did'nt work, uninstall and install the driver or update latest driver for mouse(if any).

      I'm running Windows X

p Home Edition. I use msconfig to control what loads on startup. Logitech's Mouseware and Setpoint both run on startup. Hmmmm

It might be causing this due to switches(USB,PS2). You may want to look on your device manager on your USB Controllers first, click on update(expand, right-click) or reinstalling(reboot). Or toggle under start-up loading for both drivers(mouse and keyboard) by unchecking one or both then reboot. Use Start-up CPL first as suggested. If everything is still not working try, this tweak fix #30 --> http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm
*Read the instruction on how to use VBS files.

            I FIXED IT!!!   ;-)
I remembered what I learned when running Windows 98 SE. You do NOT need all the crud that loads at startup.
So I used msconfig and unclicked everything except what I actually use in the notification area. Such as ATIRW2, anydvd, setpoint, ETC.
wHEN i REBOOTED TO LET THE CHANGES TAKE EFFECT MY MOUSE REMAINED LEFT-HANDED.

         tHANKS FOR TRYING,
        eRIC t.
