Norton Securty Suite and advertising trial removal.

New PC: HP 6223 Window 7 Home Pre.

I know to use Remove Programs but don't I want one of those removal tools dedicated to removing any and all associated Norton applications they force on you with a new PC?

I want to replace it with one of your freeware a/v's you suggest.

    Thanx

Your post does not make sense!!

If you want to replace Norton with another Anti-virus then you need to use the Norton Removal Software.

Then download another anti-virus. I use Avast.
    11 cheers for binary !

I would suggest getting the new av software before you delete the Norton, that way you can scan the new program.  Just make sure that you remove the Norton package before you install the new av software.
    Evil is an exact science.

      Hi tpolcha,

I prefer using the program specific removal tool. Start>Programs>Norton Security> Uninstall.

Oh and Avast is awesome...I love it!

Apparently AVAST free is popular, why? I've used AVG and have become comfortable with it.  Whats the advantage?

I'm not sure what the technical advantages are ..all I can tell you is that I personally think that Avast is a great product. It is very user friendly, it scans anything and everything that could possibly harbor a virus including IM, email and removable media.
But if you like AVG that's cool. To each his own. ;D I have seen them both recommended by the gurus.

No advantage at all. There are lots of good AV utilities - as long as you use it and it's always up to date you're fine.
