Slow & Jerky Videos on MS 7
    « on: March 16, 2011, 07:36:03 AM »
My new laptop with Microsoft 7 will not play videos properly either online or downloaded.  I am on dial-up, but even videos I have downloaded are not worth watching.  The graphics move a few seconds, stop, go again, stop, etc. etc.  Do I need Flash or some other driver component to correct this?  Suggestions welcomed!

    Bill.

    Hi wilmsp,

    1. what is model & manufacturer of your new laptop?

    2. what is model of your graphics card or graphics chip on your laptop (if you know or can find out)

    3. have you install latest drivers for your graphics card or chip?

    4. what kind of video are you trying to watch? High Definition video or regular standard quality video? If the graphics are playing back on your laptop as if you're in serious traffic jam may mean that your graphics card may not be able to handle it .... don't now know if that's the case, just a thought.

Thanks ---  The laptop is a Gateway NV53 which I bought in January.  Its 6 bit, has 4 gig ram with 3.75 usable.  It is AMD Athlon II Dual Core.  I'm sorry and guess I should know, but can't find which drivers I need for my graphics card.  I just want to see the occasional news video with reasonable quality.  Any further suggestions?

      Thanks again.

Not surprising if it's "slow and jerky" with only 6 bits under the hood...

Well, we can find out ... see the gateway NV53's specs from Gateway's official website listing here  ;)

Hey people - I'm really sorry but that was a typo and I failed to proofread before posting.  My Gateway laptop is 64 bit!  A large oops on my part.
